International students welcomed to Stockholm

Many international students are coming to Stockholm this weekend, beginning studies in Sweden’s capital. During two days, January 16 – 17, the students will be greeted by Stockholm Student Arrival Service at the airports by guides, and from Arlanda Airport there will be free buses into the city.

Each year more than 5,000 international students and researchers from more than 60 countries choose to study in Stockholm, drawn to one of the city’s 17 different universities and university colleges.

Someone to turn to

In order to give the students a warm welcome, the member universities of Stockholm Academic Forum have planned a proper welcome reception for those arriving at both the Arlanda and Skavsta airports. The students will be taken care of by guides from several different universities in Stockholm. All students landing at Arlanda airport will be offered free bus transfer from the airport to central Stockholm. “The first meeting with Stockholm is very important, generally people have travelled far, and for some of them this is their first time abroad. They appreciate having someone to turn to with their questions.” says Maria Fogelström Kylberg, Director of Stockholm Academic Forum.

Stockholm Academic Forum, Staf, represents 17 Stockholm universities and higher education institutions and the City of Stockholm. Staf also promotes Stockholm as an important leading national and international academic centre.
