New Vice-Chancellor at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm
5 June, 2019
Today, Helena Wessman takes over as the new Vice-Chancellor at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm (KMH). She has for the past five years and up to now been the General Manager at Berwaldhallen concert hall with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Swedish Radio Choir.
Helena Wessman is herself educated at KMH, with trombone as the main instrument. Since 2013 she has been a member of KMH’s Board of Directors and is thus well acquainted with the university college. She has a broad competence in music life – as an active musician, and as a manager and vice-chancellor. In addition to being the manager of Berwaldhallen, she has also been the CEO and artistic director of the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and, before that, the head of the Academy of Music and Drama at the University of Gothenburg in 2007-2009.
