We welcomed 300 international students at Arlanda

Yesterday, the Stockholm Student Arrival Service welcomed 300 new international students at Arlanda. Twenty-one student guides, with skills in 15 languages among them, were ready to eagerly guide students to their new home. The new students who arrived came from airports around the world; Beijing, Athens, Istanbul, Berlin and Madrid to name a few. Apart from a warm welcome, the students were also offered a free bus ride to the City Terminal, Stockholm University, and KTH. On the bus, students also received a welcome gift in the form of a goodie bag filled with a SIM card, a map, and a reflector. Riding the bus together, also gave students the opportunity to get to know each other and create their first friendships in Stockholm.

The first impression of Stockholm means a lot to international students and to how they look upon their studies. This is why Staf, along with the 18 universities and higher institutions in Stockholm and the City of Stockholm, has been arranging the Student Arrival Service since 2014. However, apart from students, visitors to Stockholm also notice the big announcements at Arlanda welcoming students, thus enhancing Stockholm’s visibility as an academic destination.

This was the eighth time the Stockholm Student Arrival Service was organized.

Swedish Radio was at the scene

During the day, Swedish Radio (Sveriges Radio) visited Terminal 5 at Arlanda. You can listen to their interview with Kasra Khani from Germany here.
