SDCN Academy: Unlock Sweden is now underway
Apr 4, 2023

The first edition of SDCN Academy: Unlock Sweden is now underway. SDCN Academy is Stockholm Akademiska Forum’s latest initiative for Stockholm Dual Career Network (SDCN), a network for partners and spouses of international talent in the city, and is presented in collaboration with Stockholm City and Invest Stockholm.
The program takes a holistic approach, with the goal that participants are given access to the network, information and support they need to enter the Swedish labor market and to feel more at home in Stockholm and in Sweden.
Over a five-week period lectures on Swedish mentality, history and business culture are interspersed with workshops on personal development, interview training and meeting with recruiters.
“To establish yourself in Stockholm it is important to know a broader Swedish context and find a place where you feel you belong. But it can be hard to know where to start, even if the will is there. Through our program, participants have the possibility to explore different parts of Swedish society in a safe environment together with knowledgeable speakers and people in a similar situation to themselves. We are convinced that this will give participants the grounding to find their way in the labor market and make Stockholm feel more like home” said Maria Fogelström Kylberg, CEO of Stockholm Akademiska Forum.
There has been a lot of interest in the program, which began on the 7 March. The first cohort has twenty participants who together represent 16 countries over five continents. They are a well-educated group: 90 percent are educated to degree level or above and many have several years of experience in their respective fields.
A second cohort of SDCN Academy: Unlock Sweden will take place in autumn 2023.
