Stockholm PhD Academy

Stockholm is home to around 2,200 international PhD students. While many want to stay after their degrees, navigating a new labour market and career opportunities in a new country can be challenging, and several end up leaving.

The Stockholm PhD Academy is designed specifically to support international PhD students in Stockholm considering their next steps in Sweden. Through practical career support, employer insights, and a strong sense of community, the programme helps participants better understand the Swedish labour market and gain confidence in building a future here.

What is it?

The Stockholm PhD Academy is a holistic five-week career development programme designed specifically for international PhD students studying in Stockholm.

The programme combines workshops, career coaching, employer insights, and opportunities to learn from professionals and international PhD graduates who have successfully transitioned into the Swedish labour market. Participants also become part of a community of fellow international PhD students navigating similar questions about their future in Sweden.

Who can apply?

The programme is open to every international PhD students at Stockholms Akademiska Forum’s partner universities.

Upcoming programme details:

DATES November 3 to December 3, 2026 (2 times a week, mostly Tuesdays and Thursdays)
TIME 16:00-18:00 or 16:00-18:30, depending on the session
LOCATION Stockholms Akademiska Forum + study visits and side events
SIZE 25-35 participants
APPLICATION DEADLINE The application form will open in September.
